01First morning

Walk the walls before the city wakes

Leave the villa early: Pile Gate is about 8 minutes downhill, and the walls entrance is just inside it. In the cool of the morning you have the ramparts, the terracotta roofs and the open sea almost to yourself.

The ticket also lets you into Fort Lovrijenac, the fortress on its own rock just outside the walls and five minutes from the villa.

02Good to know

One card for walls, museums and buses

If you plan more than the walls, the Dubrovnik Pass is the simple choice: the walls, the Rector’s Palace, the Maritime Museum, the Franciscan Monastery and other city museums, plus the city buses.

The 3-day and 7-day passes also take 20% and 30% off the Lokrum ticket.

03Afternoon

Lokrum, the green island across the bay

Small boats leave the Old Port for Lokrum roughly every half hour. In fifteen minutes you swap stone streets for pine woods, peacocks, a botanical garden and the “Dead Sea”, a small saltwater lake in a collapsed cave where the water is always calm.

Nobody stays overnight on Lokrum, so keep an eye on the time of the last boat back.

04A day at sea

Sail to the Elafiti Islands

Our favourite day. Dubrovnik Daily Sailing takes small private groups out of Gruž harbour on a 41 ft yacht: a swim off Koločep, a quiet bay with nobody else in it, and lunch ashore on Šipan or Lopud.

The half-day trip (4 hours) goes around Koločep. The full day (7 hours) adds a second swim stop and lunch on the islands. Prices are for the whole boat, not per person. Dubrovnik Daily Sailing is an independent local operator we recommend.

Half day, 4 h
from €320 per boat
Full day, 7 h
from €420 per boat

05Lunch on the islands

Island konobas worth the sail

On the islands, lunch is grilled fish caught that morning, a glass of local white and nowhere to be. A few places our guests love:

  • Šipanska Luka, Šipan

    Konoba Kod Marka

A sailors’ favourite on the harbour: simple grilled fresh fish, sea urchins and crab “Marko-style”. Open in season.

    konoba-kod-marka.com
  • Vrbova bay, Šipan

    BOWA

A beach restaurant with cabanas on its own cove: Ston oysters, tuna tartare and fish. Reservation required.

  • Lopud harbour

    Obala

A family seafood restaurant since 1936, known for sea bass baked in salt. Closed for the 2026 season; reopens in April 2027.

On Lopud, walk across the island to sandy Šunj bay for an afternoon swim.

06Sunset

Above the city on Mount Srđ

In the late afternoon, walk ten minutes to the cable car and ride up Mount Srđ. From the top, the Old Town, Lokrum and the Elafiti Islands lie below you as the sun goes down.

The cable car runs until midnight in high summer and closes from December to March.

08After dark

Nights inside a fortress

Culture Club Revelin is a nightclub inside the 16th-century Revelin Fortress by Ploče Gate, with guest DJs and late nights, busiest in summer. For a quieter evening, the bars and live music on and around Stradun are a short walk from the villa.
